In June 2022 I closed the doors to Highlander Bicycle after more than 20 years of operation.  The pandemic brought challenges with shortages of bikes and parts and that certainly factored in the decision to move on.  However,  it had more to do with a pandemic-inspired sense of carpe diem -- a  need to seize each day and pursue other interests while I still had the chance.

In the fall of 2021 I began meeting with a couple of local people to kick around ideas of how to build a stronger cycling community and culture in the greater Bennington area.  Over time the amount of people involved in that planning expanded greatly and on August 6, 2022,  the results of that planning became a reality.  A  new non-profit bike shop, called the Bike Hub, opened its doors for the first time.  I have very high hopes that this new venture will be a great addition to the Bennington area and be the backbone for a strong cycling community.  Please check out their website and Facebook page for more information on the vision for the Bike Hub and for what is brewing.  Many thanks to everyone who gave Highlander Bicycle the opportunity to serve you through  the years.  Hope to see you out on the roads, trails, or at the new Bike Hub.
